A couple weeks ago, with the forecast calling for sub-freezing temperatures, Seattle and other cities opened extra space for people experiencing unsheltered homelessness. Thank you to our communities for coming together to bring people inside, we appreciate the very hard work of the people who are a part of this effort, and recognize that more inclusive permanent housing is the long-term solution.

- Seattle Center Exhibition Hall, 301 Mercer Street., 206-735-9461, operated by Salvation Army, opens nightly at 7:00pm, serving all genders, pets ok, extended through 1/3
- Compass Housing Alliance, 210 Alaskan Way S. (across from the Ferry terminal), 206-735-9461, opens nightly at 7:00pm, serving all genders, service animals ok, extended through 1/3

During the day, the Armory at Seattle Center is open and warm 10:00am – 8:00pm. The Armory will be closed on Jan. 1 but will open after that on its regular schedule.

Seattle Parks Warming Centers – As of Monday, Jan.3, all Seattle Parks warmng centers are closed.
- International District/Chinatown Community Center: (719 8th Ave S, Seattle). Hours vary daily. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 11:00 am- 9:00 pm; Tuesday and Thursday: 10am-7pm; Saturday: 10:00 am-7:00pm
- Magnuson Park (Building #406: 7400 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle). Monday and Tuesday 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm; Saturday 10am-7pm

Transportation
Metro Buses: As of Monday, Jan.3, Metro is back on regular routes. Reduced service due to snow, rides are free (there is no enforcement of fares during snow events). King County Metro riders can travel to emergency shelters on regular bus service, and every bus is warm. Face masks required. Trip planning help is available online or by calling Metro’s call center, 206-553-3000. A list of bus routes currently running and more information is here. Cancellations can be found in the Next Departures tool in Trip Planner or by texting your bus stop number to 62550.
Seattle Police Community Officers are providing rides to shelters and warming centers, available Monday-Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm, call the non-emergency line at 206-625-5011
Health One (Seattle Fire Department) and the Seattle HOPE Team are also coordinating transportation to shelters.

Malls
Local malls like The Outlet Collection in Auburn, Westfield Southcenter Mall in Tukwila, and the Armory at Seattle Center are warm and open to the public.
COVID Precautions
Public Health Seattle-King County guidance is clear that “while the risk of COVID is great, it does not surpass the dangers associated with exposure to extreme weather.” Guidance and planning tools for shelter operators here. Public Health continues to recommend physical distancing, face masks, symptom checks, testing, and vaccines. Service providers who need supplies or assistance mitigating COVID or other communicable diseases, please call 206-296-4774 or chs.heart@kingcounty.gov.
